IMG_2017Week 9: Baby is the size of a grape!

How far along: 9 weeks
Gender: no idea & no “gut feeling” prediction
Weight gain: I don’t know… I ordered a scale online though 🙂
Symptoms: still some nausea, a couple of days of vomiting, still tired, still have a sore lower back, and still sore boobs
Maternity clothes: not yet
Stretch marks: No
Belly button in or out: in
Sleep: totally fine..except for my middle-of-the-night potty trips
Best moment this week: finally letting Andrew’s grandparents know about the pregnancy 🙂
Miss anything: not really
Movement: not yet
Cravings: nothing really
Looking forward to: our first ultrasound… it’s not soon enough!
We had a low-key Easter at the end of Week 9. I was up late Saturday throwing up again, so I had low motivation for Sunday. I pretty much made Andrew handle dinner because I was just not feeling up to it. But here’s our Easter mantel:

Baby Update

8 Weeks

IMG_2015Week 8: Baby is the size of a raspberry! And apparently looking less like a reptile with a tail. 🙂 We’re moving in the right direction!

So here I am at “2 months” or so:

IMG_1971I don’t know if that’s a “bump” yet… I’m pretty sure that’s just me being bloated and catching up on eating after not eating enough during Week 7! But let’s just pretend that that’s all baby. 🙂

I’m going to plan on taking a photo of myself every 4 weeks (once a month-ish). This was my practice round… so I’m hoping the pictures look better in the future. And I’m hoping to get more creative with the white boards. I’m going to do my weekly updates with this handy thing I’ve seen on many other pregnancy blogs:

How far along: 8 weeks
Gender: no idea & no “gut feeling” prediction
Weight gain: I don’t know… I ordered a scale online though 🙂
Symptoms: still some nausea, a couple of days of vomiting, still tired, still have a sore lower back, and still sore boobs
Maternity clothes: I’ve ordered some and got some from my mom for my birthday, but not wearing any yet.
Stretch marks: No
Belly button in or out: in
Sleep: totally fine… I’m always tired, so bedtime is a wonderful time for me
Best moment this week:seeing a friend of mine at the “new pregnancy” class at the hospital on base — we’re due less than a week apart!
Miss anything: not really… shockingly not even wine!
Movement: not yet
Cravings: nothing really… I’ve been sneaking snacks into my work day so I’ve started eating bagels & cream cheese mid-morning. And they are SO yummy! I forgot how much I love eating them.
Looking forward to: our first ultrasound… it’s not soon enough!
Baby Update · Travel

7 Weeks

IMG_1076Ah, week 7. It was a doozy. We were in Cornwall for a week to celebrate our 3rd anniversary. And I did NOT feel good. 😦

First of all, Baby is about half an inch long now. Or the size of a blueberry. Which I didn’t have on hand. So instead I found a bean that was about half an inch long. 🙂

Now about our week. We did a lot of walking/hiking which was probably good for me, but I wasn’t thoroughly enjoying it. I had lower back pain, so I really just wanted to sit all the time. But most of my sitting was done in the car. Which brought on the worst symptom of the week: nausea. Something I didn’t know about Cornwall: all those coastal roads are very narrow, very curvy, and very steep. Ugh, my stomach was so unhappy. I probably felt the best when we were outside right on the coast. That sea air made me feel much better!

Food was not really my friend this week. I struggled to eat almost every meal. Those of you who know me well know that I really love food. So not wanting to eat? I didn’t know what to do with myself! I felt especially bad, because all of our meals were either at the B&B we stayed at or at a restaurant. So I felt like I was insulting the staff when I couldn’t eat. I made it through most of the week without actually getting sick, but then Friday, our last night in Cornwall, I got sick after dinner. And then both nights after that too.

I guess I just assumed that I would get sick in the morning if I got sick at all during pregnancy. Nausea hits me anytime of day, but the vomiting seems to happen in the evenings. Either before dinner or a few hours afterward. Keeping food in the stomach is supposed to help with nausea, but I had such a hard time actually eating. I mean, nothing sounded good at all!

Don’t worry, we did have a nice vacation. But it would have been better if I had felt a little better. 🙂
