Baby Update

14 Weeks

IMG_2187So the commissary had some weird-looking lemons this week… so baby is the size of a lemon, minus that protrusion: 3.4 inches long. Definitely feeling like my belly is showing more, but I still feel like people look at me and think “fat” not “pregnant” at this point.
How far along: 14 weeks
Gender: I don’t know… but I had two people at work predict boy this week.
Weight gain: Still about the same.
Symptoms: Back pain, nausea, occasional headaches, and I still threw up one night. 😦
Maternity clothes: Not really… I experimented with some options this week. One day I tried the Belly Button band, then I tried some maternity jeans, and then I tried the hairband thing on my jeans. I’m just having issues with not having a waist right now! I’m constantly hiking my jeans back up, but it’s probably unavoidable with my job.
Stretch marks: No
Belly button in or out: in
Sleep: Totally fine..except for my middle-of-the-night potty trips. And I’ve been waking up before my alarm goes off. I’m blaming that more on the sun rising earlier than on pregnancy though.
Best moment this week: Getting to have an actual conversation with Andrew! He wanted updates on how my belly inhabitant is doing. 🙂
Miss anything: The energy to cook dinner. My menu-planning has been seriously lacking.
Movement: not yet
Cravings: Chips & salsa… I actually had it for dinner that night. Blue Gatorade & Dr Pepper too, although I’m really trying not to have too much soda.
Looking forward to: Feeling the baby moving
Baby Update

13 Weeks

Baby is the size of a clementine or about 2.9″. When I looked at the size of that orange, I was a little surprised! I mean, I know he/she is growing every day, but sometimes it surprises me how quickly it happens.
How far along: 13 weeks
Gender: Maybe boy? I’m fully basing it on the old wives tale about sweet vs salty foods. I have not craved any sugary foods, so apparently that means Baby is a boy. Except for Starburst candies…hmm…
Weight gain: Still about the same.
Symptoms: Back pain, nausea, occasional headaches, and I still threw up one night. 😦 Toward the end of this week I had a weird ache in my rib area, which seems odd. I would expect it later on in pregnancy, but it seems too early for that kind of pain now.
Maternity clothes: not yet
Stretch marks: No
Belly button in or out: in
Sleep: totally fine..except for my middle-of-the-night potty trips
Best moment this week: Making our big announcement on Mother’s Day! Now I get to complain about pregnancy symptoms publicly! 😛
Miss anything: Andrew — the first few days were fine, but I’m starting to feel a little lonesome. So then I buy baby clothes online. Good thing he’s only gone for a month. 🙂
Movement: not yet
Cravings: Well, I just ordered one pound of pink Starburst candies. I guess that counts. And I can’t stop eating the Shells & White Cheddar Pasta Roni. It’s just so delicious! And I don’t get sick of it… I’m always in the mood for it. My go-to snack this week is Wheat Thins and pepper jack cheese sticks.
Looking forward to: Feeling the baby moving

Happy Mother’s Day!

Happy Mother’s Day, ladies! Including me this year!

IMG_2047I have been really anxious to share our news, and it was pretty cool that Mother’s Day ended up coinciding with the first day of our 2nd trimester. We had to take our photo a little early, since Andrew was getting ready to leave for Iceland. So just Baby & me celebrating my first Mother’s Day.

I got a few cards and gifts though, so that was exciting! Andrew’s parents sent a book of baby crochet patterns, and my grandma sent a funny onesie. It still seems a little crazy that I’m a mommy-to-be!

And, of course, I need a picture with MY mommy:

DSCN2399This is one of the most recent photos I have with my mom, and it’s already about 7 months old! 😦 It’s from my sister’s wedding in October, which was the last time I was in the States. I really love living in England, but knowing that we’ll (most likely) be moving back to the States in less than a year is a little comforting. Especially with becoming a family of 3. I just couldn’t imagine my little one hardly ever getting to see his/her grandparents. I know my mom (and Andrew’s mom!) are super excited for this baby, and I’m happy they won’t have to take a 9 hour flight to see all of us. 🙂
