Baby Update

23 Weeks

IMG_2422I had to do it: I was waiting to use yarn as a size comparison. 🙂 Baby Kiel is finally the length of a skein of yarn! Or 11.5″ long (8″ from crown to rump). He or she also weighs about 1.25 lbs now.

How far along: 23 weeks
Gender: Baby Kiel remains a mystery baby 🙂
Weight gain: 7 lbs
Symptoms: Back pain mostly and still headaches sometimes
Maternity clothes: Yep!
Stretch marks: No
Belly button in or out: in
Sleep: So-so… We’ve been in a hotel this week, so that doesn’t help. It’s been unseasonably warm up here in Scotland, so it’s been hot at night (no A/C), which doesn’t help me sleep at all. I still have hip pain, but I think part of that might be from walking & climbing up and down stairs during the day.
Best moment this week: I don’t know, there have been several good ones! I really enjoyed seeing Loch Ness (it’s beautiful) and seeing dolphins near Inverness. But overall, (not to be sappy) I just really enjoyed spending one-on-one time with Andrew all day everyday this week!
Miss anything: Starting to miss a nice cold glass of white wine
Movement: Yes, fairly frequently! Andrew doesn’t always feel it, but he always feels the “hard” spots in my belly. I don’t know what part of the baby it is, but we both think it’s pretty fascinating to feel my belly get hard and then softer again, haha.
Cravings: Definitely noticed that I was craving ice cream this week. Especially fruit flavored ones. I had strawberries and cream ice cream one night with dinner, and then a scoop of raspberry and a scoop of peach up at John O’Groats. Yum!
Looking forward to: Getting all my photos from Scotland edited, haha!

  1. Adorable!!!! Baby Kiel really does look great in stripes!!! The hardness in your belly could be contractions! Just the practice kind, but cool to feel! They’ll become more intense as you get further along. This is getting EXCITING!!!!!

    1. Well, I dress myself in stripes all the time… Baby Kiel better get ready for the same, haha! I wondered if they could be contractions, but I didn’t know if they’d be so localized to one area. Andrew & I are both just fascinated by anything new that happens in the pregnancy! 🙂
