Happy Mother’s Day!

Happy Mother’s Day, ladies! Including me this year!

IMG_2047I have been really anxious to share our news, and it was pretty cool that Mother’s Day ended up coinciding with the first day of our 2nd trimester. We had to take our photo a little early, since Andrew was getting ready to leave for Iceland. So just Baby & me celebrating my first Mother’s Day.

I got a few cards and gifts though, so that was exciting! Andrew’s parents sent a book of baby crochet patterns, and my grandma sent a funny onesie. It still seems a little crazy that I’m a mommy-to-be!

And, of course, I need a picture with MY mommy:

DSCN2399This is one of the most recent photos I have with my mom, and it’s already about 7 months old! 😦 It’s from my sister’s wedding in October, which was the last time I was in the States. I really love living in England, but knowing that we’ll (most likely) be moving back to the States in less than a year is a little comforting. Especially with becoming a family of 3. I just couldn’t imagine my little one hardly ever getting to see his/her grandparents. I know my mom (and Andrew’s mom!) are super excited for this baby, and I’m happy they won’t have to take a 9 hour flight to see all of us. 🙂

Baby Update

12 Weeks

IMG_2069Baby is the size of a plum peach! It was supposed to be a plum, but the plums at the commissary were small! And so were the peaches, for that matter, so there’s my 2.1″ long peach of a baby. He/she weighs about half an ounce right now, and his/her digestive system is beginning to work.
How far along: 12 weeks
Gender: I have been finding gray hairs left and right. 😦 So now I’m really leaning toward girl, haha.
Weight gain: None since last week, so who knows.
Symptoms: Only one day of vomiting, and it was my fault: once again I didn’t eat when I was hungry. I’ve been gagging every morning, as usual, but the nausea wasn’t as bad. I started getting some headaches this week, but they weren’t too bad. Back pain has still been bothering me, but not enough to take any Tylenol.
Maternity clothes: Just one day on the weekend…I tried out the maternity yoga pants, but they seem just like my other yoga pants, haha.
Stretch marks: No
Belly button in or out: in
Sleep: totally fine..except for my middle-of-the-night potty trips
Best moment this week: Making my announcement at work! I am so bad at keeping secrets…
Miss anything: I still miss eating normally. I get full really quickly, and when I try to eat a “normal” amount, I feel yucky. But the biggest thing I miss? Andrew. He left for a TDY in Iceland midweek and will be gone for about a month.
Movement: not yet
Cravings: Combos… I had them for a snack one day, and then for breakfast the next morning, haha
Looking forward to: Announcing our big news on Mother’s Day next weekend!
IMG_2046Any bigger? I definitely can’t “suck it in” anymore like I used to. But I still mostly just feel fat. I’m sure I’ll regret saying this, but I’m looking forward to “looking pregnant.”
Baby Update

11 Weeks

IMG_202511 weeks: Baby is the size of a fig strawberry!

Yeah, I’m having issues with the “standard” fruit comparisons. My first issue was the kumquat: there were no kumquats at the commissary, and I don’t even really know what the heck a kumquat is. And this week is a fig, which I also didn’t have on hand. So I found a strawberry that was the right size. I think the next few weeks are fruits I would actually buy though, so I’ll get back on track. 🙂

How far along: 11 weeks
Gender: still kind of thinking girl
Weight gain: I have no idea anymore. We got a scale, and I weighed less than what I told the doctor that I thought I weighed before pregnancy. So I’ll base it on my current weight from now on, I guess. But yay! I must have lost weight at some point, haha!
Symptoms: Only one day of vomiting! But the nausea was worse this week, I think. We went out to dinner with some friends on Wednesday, and my appetite was just not there. So depressing.
Maternity clothes: not yet
Stretch marks: No
Belly button in or out: in
Sleep: totally fine..except for my middle-of-the-night potty trips
Best moment this week: Celebrating with some close friends 🙂 They gave us a little orchid that will bloom again around the time the baby is born… how sweet!
Miss anything: Having a real appetite. And actually wanting to eat things.
Movement: not yet
Cravings: Nope. My diet has been really boring and repetitive. I seriously feel like I eat the same things all the time. I repeat: I really miss having a real appetite.
Looking forward to: Announcing our big news on Mother’s Day next weekend!
A few of our first things for Baby Kiel:
IMG_2032The first thing we got for the baby was the little lamb. And actually, it was Andrew who got the first gift for Baby! He picked it out himself and everything. 🙂 I randomly picked out the gender-neutral sleepers a week or so ago. But that little lamb has been sitting on the couch for about a month now, just reminding us of our little one growing every day!
